Anderson County Sportsmans Club

There will be a work day on Sunday 6-28-09. We need people to come out and help with projects around the club. Remember, this is an all-volunteer organization. Any assistance you can provide will be appreciated.

We will be hosting a 3-D Archery match this Sunday, June 28th starting at 9am. As usual this match will be open to the public. Come out and enjoy a walk through the woods but watch out for the alligators, dinosaurs, and other critters with targets on their chests. Remember: the Rifle and Silhouette ranges will be closed during the archery match.

The shooting events of the Bluegrass State Games will be held at ACSC again this year. Smallbore (rimfire) Rifle match on the Rifle range and the Black Powder Rifle match on the PPC range is scheduled for Saturday, July 18th. The Airgun competition on the trap range and the High Power Rifle Match at the Rifle Range will be on Sunday, July 19th. You can see the schedule and register on-line at http://www.bgsg.org/

I would like to encourage everyone to come to the general meetings. This is a great way to find out about possible activities that might interest you. We are always needing people to help organize and support our activities. This month we will have representatives from the Bluegrass State Games who will be presenting a request for our club to host an event this year. A discussion and vote by the members present will decide. Come and make your voice heard.

The trap shoots are going well. We are averaging about 15 shooters each night. We would like to see some more of you come out. It is also open to the public. So invite a friend and come on out. Check TRAP page for all the info.

Well, we now have 400 members and must discontinue accepting applications. I believe this is the earliest we have ever filled up. For those of you who are interested in becoming members we hope to see you in January of 2010.

The 2008 Sportsman of the Year is Kenneth Dennis. The award was announced at the December 11, 2008 membership meeting by President Jamey Filson. Kenneth is an avid hunter of large and small game.

The 2009 Gun of the Month tickets are now available. Ticket cost is $25.00 and can be purchased at club meetings or from club members. Only 400 tickets will be sold. Drawings for the 2009 Gun of the Month will be held during the General Membership meetings from February through September. The winning ticket of each monthly drawing will be put back into the pot for the remaining guns.

A final drawing will be held at the September meeting for a DPMS AR-15 20" Flat Top. The person who sold the winning ticket for this final gun will receive a Bersa Thunder 380 pistol. If you are a member and would like a chance to win the Bersa Thunder 380, you can pick up a block of tickets to sell from Jeanne C at any upcoming meeting.

We started accepting membership renewals for 2009 on October 1st. To renew your membership you could download the renewal form, fill it out and either mail it in or bring it to a meeting. We strongly suggested you not to delay. The locks changed on January 1st and we began accepting applications for new members. Once we reached the 400 member limit we had to discontinue accepting any late renewals.

Come out to the club on October 18th and join us for food, games, shootin' and all around good fun. All members are welcome to attend and bring one guest family per member family. Lots of Give-Aways – Door Prizes – Game Prizes.

Gates open from 9:00 AM until dark.
Ranges will be open all day and manned from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Kids' activities offered from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Games - Darts, Cornhole, Fishing, and more – all day long
